About the Role
We’ve disrupted the transportation and logistics world, and with that comes the need for top legal talent. This newly-created role will be our first lawyer based in Taiwan and will join the Legal Team that supports all of Uber’s businesses in Taiwan. The Counsel, Taiwan will work on a huge variety of cutting-edge legal matters, including a big focus on the fast-growing Eats business. This position will be based in Taipei.

What you’ll do

Join a tight-knit Legal team that provides across-the-board support for Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, including day-to-day work and strategic leadership on a wide range of regulatory, litigation and commercial matters.
Partner closely with the Public Policy, Communications, Tax, Insurance, Community Operations, Marketing and People teams to ensure strategic alignment on and successful execution of important initiatives.
Support the Eats, Rides and New Verticals Teams as they expand offerings and geographic scope, and help the Product Team evaluate and roll out new products across North Asia.
Work closely with the other members of the legal and business teams drafting, reviewing, negotiating and taking ownership of a wide variety of commercial transactions.
Work with our Enterprise Sales Teams, supporting the negotiation and drafting of various agreements and establishing legal tools and policies to support these teams.
Support the Marketing, Product and Operations teams on various other transactional matters.
Conduct legal research and evaluate risks regarding business operations.
Prepare legal educational material for training programmes for legal and non-legal colleagues.
What you’ll need

5-7 years of relevant experience as a qualified lawyer within a recognised law firm and/or multinational company; in-house experience and Taiwan qualified would be a plus but is not required
Strong skills in legal drafting, research, negotiation and with commercial and contentious work; significant dispute resolution and regulatory experience would be a plus
Highly motivated, creative and laser-focused on the details
The ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and to re-prioritize quickly to address shifting business needs; able to thrive in high impact/high profile situations
Excellent project and stakeholder management skills, organized, and good judgment
Pragmatic — able to provide practical, actionable solutions for business clients
Excellent interpersonal skills (outgoing, down-to-earth, and with a good sense of humor)
Ability to operate in English and Mandarin
